The Municipality of Zakynthos intends to take measures for the protection and maintenance of world-renowned beach Navagio, which attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists every year and is synonymous with tourism in our country, as in the last few years it is constantly voted among the top beaches worldwide.

The Municipality oriented interventions for maintenance of the ship under the supervision of the management of Department of Conservation and Protection of Cultural Heritage of the TEI Ionian Islands and fencing it, so that there is no access from the swimmers who are often responsible for the damages.

For this purpose it is estimated that a budget reaching 30,000 euros will be required as well as the collaboration with individuals who possess the necessary expertise.

According to the mayor of Zakynthos, Pavlos Kolokotsas, it is planned to recruit a guardian who will be responsible for surveillance of the beach, to place a chemical toilet, and if possible the recruit of a lifeguard.
