“My pension, for Greece”

Mrs Liz Inrich-Papadopoulou is Danish married to a Greek and she lives permanently in Rhodes. «I’m not rich and my pension that came from Social Security is 538€ only, but I do not think we should leave the country to sink,» says the 65 year old Danish woman. «I was born and raised in Denmark, but I have been living in Greece for more than 33 years, I was married here, my two sons were born here, George and Demokritos, they served in the Greek Army and it feels like home to me».

She was working at the her husband’s restaurant and in recent years she was working as a nurse in the Social Welfare Agency of the City of Rhodes. Her husband, Michael Papadopoulos has been retired by “TEVE» with his pension we can live on, by reducing our costs,» says Mrs. Inraich-Papadopoulos.

As she points out, according to her decision she should curtail traveling to Denmark to meet her son George who works there and to see both of her grandchild!

Mrs. Papadopoulos-Inrich believes that Greece has reached the current situation because there is a great fraud. «Almost no one gives receipt too, and I – as I had learned in Denmark- from the first day I arrived at Rhodes every time I was buying something I was asking to be given a receipt, thus I was sometimes becoming the bad one, but it should be like that so as the state to have money and to avoid having to borrow”.
