One of the most beautiful bookstores in the world in Santorini

The Americans Craig and Oliver first came to Santorini in 2002 and when they ran out of books found that there was no bookstore. Immediately dreamed to open their own bookstore in Oia.
Half years later made this true and the bookstore quickly became world famous. New York Times and Dwell wrote about the bookstore and Jeremy Mercer’s Guardian featured the best bookstore in the world top 10 favorite over even the popular Shakespeare & Co.
The bookshop Atlantis (Atlantis Books) 2014 closing operation for 10 years and is celebrating with a series of events ranging from the celebration of a marriage to festival literature.
To be able to preserve the Craig Walzer has developed a number of creative projects, a series of publications with 17 titles traveling between other bookstores in New York, London and Paris, events on the terrace with stunning views, and in 2011 managed to raise $ 40,000 through crowdfunding.
He cant even read in Greek but he loves Panos Karnezi, Odysseas Elytis and Yannis Ritsos, while in summer thrilled with Zisimos Lorentzatos book «Diary, Rhodes.»
The Craig Walzer admits that the life of a tourist in Santorini are very different than the locals: «The island is a beautiful place, but as a tourist you don’t live the real Greece. It’s a different experience to go through here in the winter, enjoy the simplicity of villages, to see the children of the island to grow … «.
