George Lanthimos nominated for an Academy Award for Directing – “Poor Things” scoops 11 nominations

George Lanthimos’ path towards his establishment and recognition as one of the most important directors of his generation, internationally, never ceases to amaze us and give us reason to admire him.

So, after the successes at the Venice Film Festival with the Golden Lion and the two Golden Globes, it’s the turn of the world’s ultimate film awards, the Oscars.

Poor Things, swept with 11 nominations, with Lanthimos himself being nominated for the Oscar for Director and the film playing at all the major awards and of course being on the shortlist for Best Picture.

Two more nominations than “Poor Things” has Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer,” which leads with 13 nominations, followed by “Killers of the Flower Moon” with 10 nominations and “Barbie” with eight.

“Poor Things” is nominated in all the major categories, best picture, director, Best Supporting Actress with Emma Stone. And also Mark Raffalo for Best Supporting Actor, Cinematography, Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Score, Makeup, Costume Design, Best Editing, Production Design.

The 96th Academy Awards Ceremony will take place on March 10.
