White Tower of Thessaloniki breaks visitors’ record

Tourists from every corner of the globe visited the White Tower, breaking the previous record of visits.

After the enlargement of the opening hours, visits have increased substantially and this is reflected in the number of tickets.

At the first half of 2014 (January to June) the White Tower was visited by a total of 70,828 people, Israelis and Russians to show the most interest. Given that the majority of tourists visit the landmark during the summer months, that number is expected to increase significantly in the next six months and at the end of the year to break a new record.

In 2013, the White Tower was visited by 119.663 people, an increase of nearly 30%, while in 2012 the number of people was 93.104.

Visitors have the opportunity to view a map of the city with monuments and museums, a timeline with events relevant to Thessaloniki, scientific articles of distinguished historians and archaeologists, bibliography etc.
