Leading the path towards aeronautical engineering development in Greece
Alkiviadis Thomas has been working in the aeronautical engineering industry since 1988 andH has served as a high-rank executive with Airbus. After having left St Vlasios of Igoumenitsa with his father at the age of 9 in 1970, he has never stopped dreaming about coming back and investing in his country, Greece.
In 2010, he founded Althom GmbH, an aeronautics company of experts, only to turn his dream into reality 2 years later, by relocating his established company to Patras, by the name Althom Engineering. At the same time, Thomas has been venturing as a subcontractor in Poland and India and as a cooperator with EADS and Rheinmetall.
Althom renders engineering services like stress analysis, computational fluid dynamics and control of aeronautical systems and also the analysis and authoring of technical documentation and aircraft equipment manuals.
Currently, the company’s unit at the Science Park of Patras employs 8 aeronautical engineers and 9 persons in total, and also operates in close collaboration with the city’s university.
In former interviews, Alkiviadis Thomas didn’t hesitate to go against the bureaucracy that investors encounter in Greece. However, he estimates that by strictly following a strategic plan on industrial development, growth and employment rates will also grow in the country.
