Palme d’Or award winner
Adèle Exarchopoulos is an actress, she won, when she was 19 years old, the Palme d’Or award at the 2013 Cannes film festival.
Exarchopoulos was born on 22 November 1993 in France. Her father, Didier Exarchopoulos, is a guitar teacher, and her mother, Marina Niquet, a nurse. Her grandfather was Greek.
When she was 9 year-old, her parents decided to send her to acting classes because she was very shy and they wanted to “cure” her shyness. She continued to take lessons until 2005 where she made her debut in the film “Martha”. In 2006, Exarchopoulos was spotted by an agent and made her first television appearance in an episode of the French police series “R.I.S, police scientifique”. At 13, she had a role in the 2007 film “Boxes”.
She also appeared in the films “Les Enfants de Timpelbach” (2008), “The Round Up” (2010), “Turk’s Head” (2010), “Chez Gino” (2011), “Carré blanc” (2011), “Pieces of Me” (2012) “Making a Scene” (2012) and “I Used to Be Darker” (2013) before making her international breakthrough in “Blue Is the Warmest Colour”, a 2013 film based on the 2010 French graphic novel of the same name. The film won the Palme d’Or at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. Both Exarchopoulos and co-star Léa Seydoux were also awarded the Palme d’Or alongside director Abdellatif Kechiche. She received extensive critical praise and her performance was cited as one of the year’s best.
She also played at the films “Insecure” (2014), “Voyage vers la mere” (2014), “The Anarchists” (2015), “Apnée” (2015), “The Last Face” (2015), “Orpheline” (2016) and “Down By Love” (2016).
Adèle Exarchopoulos has also won many awards for her acting some of them are: the Best Actress Award at Lafca awards in 2013, at the SFFCC Awards and OFCS Awards in 2013, at the NSFC Awards in 2014, the Most Promising Actress at the Cesar Awards in 2014, the Best Female Newcomer Empire Awards in 2014 and the Actress of the Year at the ALFS Awards the same year.
