1.Lydia Kavraki

A new robotics manufacturing institute will be created in Pittsburgh with total funds of 253 million dollars. Rice University is one of 40 academic partners and its team will be led by the Greek researcher. Read more…

2.Yana Zavros

Scientists looking to understand human stomach diseases can now use an artificially grown tissue designed to recreate the normal processes of the organ such as producing acids and other digestive enzymes. In a study featured in the journal Nature, researchers from the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, among them the Greek researcher, were able to grow human tissues in a laboratory using samples taken from the corpus/fundus region of the stomach. John Ioannidis, Director of the Prevention Research Center at Stanford University, was 2 times at the center of media attention. First of all, for leading an international team of experts that has produced a “manifesto” setting forth steps to improve the quality of scientific research.
