Most of us have fond memories of our grandmothers and grandfathers, who play an important role in the family. The Greek American Heritage Society of Philadelphia, USA and the Hellenic American website, Cosmos Philly, have launched a photo competition: Love your yiayia and pappou, to highlight their role.

The photos must be submitted electronically by the end of 2013 and accompanied by a short text about the way grandmother and grandfather became a source of inspiration.

The competition is open to people of Greek origin from Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey. The first three will be awarded.
