A Greek mobile game at the top

Fanis Kourtikakis continues his steady march towards the top of mobile gaming, designing a game that took the top spot among all games in Greece on both Android and iOS. “Resurrection Garage The Game” is a Greek racing game that climbed high in its category even though its “competitors” were big foreign productions with huge budgets. The most impressive thing is that the Greek developer achieves something like that for second time.

In 2017, the anagram game “7 words” managed within the first days of its release something that seemed almost impossible for a Greek game at the time: To conquer the first place in the App Store. Currently, it has over 1 million downloads.

In the new game by the self-taught developer from Tympaki, Heraklion, Crete, players can participate in speed races, buy cars, upgrade them and take part in championships. The game has its own currency (rgc) and players can increase their money through racing or watching ads. Through this effort, Fanis Kourtikakis managed to combine his two professions, since he is also a former car mechanic.

Resurrection Garage is not only the title of the game but also a real garage located in Thessaloniki, Greece, which was the inspiration for its creation. Its owner maintains a popular YouTube channel, with many of his favorite lines used in the game. This collaboration gave the game the necessary boost to compete with foreign productions.

The design of the game started two years ago, as the Cretan developer had to write all the code himself and constantly change it to get the best possible result. In the future he will bring new upgrades (such as Story Mode) and features that will improve the overall user experience. It currently has over 10 thousand downloads and its Play Store review is 4.3/5 stars.

The path to the top

Fanis Kourtikakis had an affinity for computers since his teenage years, but after finishing school he started working in the car workshop of his father in Timpaki. A few years later, he emigrated to Australia and started to work with programming again. It was there that the idea of 7 words was born, which he implemented after returning to Crete. After the huge success of the game, he left his father’s job and has since continued to do what he has loved since his teenage years. He has created 9 games, with his triptych of “a lot of work, perseverance, knowledge” and absolute respect for the users.
