Christos Volikakis traveled to Belarus in an excellent condition and confirmed it during the race. The Greek Team was found early in the stadium to support the Greek cyclist, headed by the new member of the International Olympic Committee and Greek President Spyros Capralos, who also attended the gold medal ceremony.

The 31-year-old cyclist found himself in the top four of the race from the beginning, and took the lead few seconds apart from Kazimiez Prokopicin (Poland), who came second. Third was the World Champion of scratch in 2018, Yakujeni Karalioch (Belarus).

“Christos was one of the strongest in the race and he was competing with the athlete from Belarus for the first place. The others tried to stop them. When the race reached the sprint, Christos gave his best. This is one of his greatest successes, but others will come, “Zafiris Volikakis, brother of the champion, told newspaper”Kathimerini “.
