An awards record at the British Independent Film Awards

“The Favorite” by Yorgos Lanthimos received 10 awards by the British Independent Film Awards ceremony held yesterday (2/12/18) as it won, among others, those of Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay for the duo of Deborah Davis and Tony McNamara, the Best Leading Actress for Olivia Colman and the Best Supporting Actress for Rachel Weiss.

Yorgos Lanthimos’ film was nominated for 13 awards. In the categories of technical prizes, “The Favorite” won the Arts, Hairstyle and Makeup, Casting, Costume and Photography Awards.

Best Leading Actor won John Coole’s “A prayer before dawn” for his performance in Zan-Stephan Sover’s film, while Alessandro Nivola was awarded the Best Supporting Actor for Sebastian Lelio’s “Disobedience.” Jonny Greenwood won the Sound and Music Awards for “You Were Never Really Here” by Linn Ramsay.

Alfonso Cuaron’s “Roma” was awarded the Best International Independent Production Award, while British actor Judi Dent was awarded The Richard Harris Award for Outstanding Contribution by an Actor to British Film.
