The Athens Medical School took the 140th place for best School in the world, ranked by the National Taiwan University (Performance ranking of Scientific Papers). This ranking is considered to be particularly important as it is influenced by the long-standing, high-level and consistent scientific research done in Universities rather than research resources, educational infrastructure, and individual achievements of faculty members.

At the same time, the University of Athens Medical School participates in the top 500 Universities in three academic subjects, compared to last year, in the ranking of individual academic fields and fields of the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), known as the Shanghai List.

In fact, at the subject of Public Health, the School is in positions 76-100, while in the subject of Clinical Medicine it moved to position 151-200 from position 201-300, certifying the upward course of recent years. In Quacquarelli Symonds’ ranking, the academic reputation and research impact of the Athens Medical School is ranked 241st in the world.

Apart from accomplishments at Department level, there are individual distinctions among faculty members and researchers that are reflected in the world rankings of Universities. More specifically, the publication of Webometrics’s Highly Cited Researchers (h> 100) for 2018 showed that there are ten Greek university professors with significant research impact, five of which come from the Athens Medical School.
