Universal acquires Evan Spiliotopoulos’ Genghis Khan script

After the smashing success of Evan Spiliotopoulos’ most recent screenwriting effort, the live-action film version of “Beauty and the Beast”, Universal has acquired the rights to his newest script, an action-adventure film centering on an epic hunt for the elusive tomb of Genghis Khan.

Executive producers include Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Robert Zemeckis. Through their Seven Bucks production company, Johnson and Garcia have already worked with Universal on the “Fast and the Furious” franchise.

Though not much is known about the film yet and casting has not begun, it seems that Dwayne Johnson will not be involved as an actor, and will be staying behind the scenes.

Spiliotopoulos’ “Beauty and the Beast” broke box office records, earning over $1.26 billion worldwide. He has been a screenwriter in Hollywood for several years, working on scripts as diverse as “The Huntsman: Winter’s War” and “Hercules”. Spiliotopoulos has experienced major successes on the big screen in Hollywood, and the Genghis Khan script seems to be the start of another blockbuster.
