The story of a Greek woman will be turned into series by Netflix

Netflix is about to expand the “#Girlboss” empire. According to Variety magazine the streaming giant is teaming with Kay Cannon and Charlize Theron to turn Sophia Amoruso’s popular autobiography into a comedy series. Cannon, writer of the “Pitch Perfect” franchise, will serve as the showrunner. She’ll exec produce the new series with Theron, Beth Kono, Laverne McKinnon and Amoruso.

Inspired by Amoruso’s best selling book, the “#Girlboss” series is about Amoruso’s rags-to-riches story from dumpster-diving and selling vintage clothes on eBay through her Nasty Gal Vintage label to building a L.A.-headquartered multi-million dollar fashion empire by the age of 27.

“#Girlboss” marks the second Netflix project in development for Theron and her Denver & Delilah production banner. They’re also working together on crime drama “Mind Hunter” with David Fincher.
