Greeks won at the World Universities Debating Championship

The World Universities Debating Championships (WUDC) is the world’s most prestigious intercollegiate debating championship, as well as the largest non-sporting student event world-wide. The winners were the Greek debaters Maria Roussi and Theodore Ntounias, representing the team of the National Technical University of Athens.

After 9 preliminary rounds, held from 29 to 31 December, the Universities that made it to the finals category EFL were the National Technical University of Greece, the FSU Jena in Germany, Brawijaya A from Indonesia and UKIM Skopje.

In the finals, the Greek orators, as well as representatives of the group of Skopje were invited to defend the use of photographic material, which reflects the refugees’ difficult situation, in awareness campaigns, and were asked to argue against this practice.

Over 400 teams, representing more than 350 universities from 70 nations, are taking part in the Greece tournament until Jan 4.
