“Lobster”: Four nominations for European Film Academy Awards

The ‘ Lobster ‘ of Giorgos Lanthimos collected four nominations in key categories of the annual awards of the European Film Academy : Best European Film , Best Director ( George Lanthimos ) , Screenplay ( Yorgos Lanthimos , Efthymis Philip ) and Actor ( Colin Farrell ).

The EFAs have become a strong indicator of the eventual Foreign Language Oscar winner, recently giving the top prize to Sorrentino’s own The Great Beauty, Michael Haneke’s Amour and last year’s Ida which all went on to win in Hollywood.

The awards will be nominated in Berlin on December 12.

Rounding out the main category is Cannes competitor The Lobster from Yorgos Lanthimos. The Best Comedy race includes A Pigeon, French box office smash The Bélier Family and Belgium’s The Brand New Testament from Jaco Van Dormael. All of the nominations unveiled today are below.
