Navarino Challenge returns for the 3rd year!

1. Navarino Challenge returns for a third consecutive year. People have embraced the event. How do you feel about that? How do you feel that you will visit Messinia region for one more year?

As a proud Greek, I am deeply honored that so many people have supported “Navarino Challenge”. Now, more than ever, the Greeks need to come together and support each other. I am looking forward to my return to Messinia and I plan on coming back for many years into the future.

2. What has been captured in your mind from the first two years of Navarino Challenge and what is your hope/wish for this year’s event?

The Greek spirit is indomitable. I travel all over the world and there is no place like Greece, and there are no people like the Greeks. This year I hope to build upon our pass success and bring more people out to celebrate in health and wellness.

3. What is the message you wish to send this year?

One of strength and unity. Greece is in the grips of great difficulties. But Greece can overcome. It starts by having a healthy body. We cannot control the economy, but we can control ourselves. I want every Greek to be the best that they can be and let our Hellenic heritage shine. “Navarino Challenge” showcases the best of what Greece has to offer.

4. What do you think when you run? What pushes you to finish any marathon you run?

Our forefather, Pheidippides was the founder of the marathon. This brings me pride and I fight to uphold his name and accomplishment. The modern marathon is all because of Pheidippides and we Greeks have strength and endurance in our blood.

5. How easy is it to overcome human limits? We often think that we cannot finish a route…

Pain is the body’s way of ridding itself of weakness. We are better than we think we are and we can go farther than we think we can. Run when you are able, walk when you have to, crawl if you must, just never give up!

6. What is your advice to the people who are involved with running in Greece?

You don’t have to go fast, and you don’t have to go far, you just have to go. Have the courage to try and your life will be forever changed. “O TOLMON NIKA!”
