The Oscars 2015 nominations held another surprise for the Greek audience as one more Greek nomination was announced, besides the two nominations of Alexandre Desplat. Elizabeth Gianni- Georgiou with David White are nominated in the category Makeup and Hairstyling, for their wotk in the movie  Guardians of the Galaxy. It is their first Oscar nomination.

• The Grand Budapest Hotel: Frances Hannon and Mark Coulier
• Guardians of the Galaxy: Elizabeth Yianni-Georgiou and David White

This is the first Oscar nomination for make-up and hair designer Elizabeth Yianni-Georgiou. She previously worked on  Thor: The Dark World, The Bourne Legacy, Hotel Rwanda, Chocolat, Made in Dagenham, The Saint, The Borrowers, An Education and many more.

«My principles as a Make-up and Hair Designer are to produce historically correct and natural styling true to the characters and the period in which they live and breathe. I want the audience to feel as if they are part of the story and I do this by producing work that is strong, consistent and above all realistic. I work very closely alongside the Director, Cast, Director of Photography, Art Director, and the Costume Designer in order to help create the characters and set the mood for the project» she states.
