Santorini amongst the most beautiful European ports
Santorini is without doubt one of the most beautiful islands in the world. The magazine Conde Nast Traveller presented the most beautiful European ports to sail into and Santorini is one of the 10 ports that stand out.
If it could safely be argued (and it can) that visiting Europe’s great isles and cities by cruise ship is a superficial travel experience, there’s one big exception to that rule. What’s unforgettable about these ports of call isn’t just what you can explore on land. It’s about the absolutely gorgeous vistas you can only get by ship when arriving—and even better, at sunset, departing.
Santorini with its whitewashed cottages perched on massive, sheer-drop cliffs overlooking a velvet blue volcanic caldera, is one of those places that’s almost as beautiful from afar as it is from atop. Santorini got its look from a violent volcanic eruption about 3,500 years ago.
The ports in Venice, Stockholm, Naples, Dubrovnik, Malta, Norway’s Flam, Barcelona, Portofino and Istanbul are also worth visiting according to the magazine.
