John Calamos is the founder and Chairman of Calamos Asset Management. He has pioneered investment strategies and crisis management and he’s the trusted investment consultant of both public organizations and private institutions.

The son of Greek immigrants to the United States, Calamos often demonstrates his pride for his Greek origins and the moral values passed on to him by his family. His parents run a grocery store in Chicago and John has made major charitable contributions to Greek American Unions to honour their memory, like a $2 million donation to the Greek Museum and Culture Centre of Chicago.

John Calamos studied Economics at the Illinois Institute of Technology, before joining the United States Air Force where he served as a combat pilot during the Vietnam War and ultimately earned the rank of Major.

In 2006, he won the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award and he is a member of the Investment Analysts Society of Chicago.

He’s a frequent columnist in the most prestigious magazines and newspapers of the world, like Forbes, Pensions & Investments, Financial World, Nation’s Business and The Wall Street Journal.

He has authored 2 books: Investing in Convertible Securities: Your Complete Guide to the Risks and Rewards and Convertible Securities: the Latest Instruments, Portfolio Strategies, and Valuation Analysis.

In 2006, Forbes magazine ranked him 160th in the list of 400 Richest Americans, worth $2 billion.

He’s the owner and pilot of 3 small aircrafts.
