Explores the functionality of the brain

Dimitrios Pantazis is a professor at the McGovern Institute at MIT University in United States and Director of the Magnetoencephalography (MEG) Laboratory within the Martinos Imaging Center. His research focuses on the study of brain and on Magnetoencephalography.

He comes from Serres, Greece. He has graduated from the department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He was a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Southern California and in 2010 he joined MIT University.

The Magnetoencephalography laboratory scans provide dynamic images of human brain function, detecting epilepsy, identifying brain tumours, helps in the understanding of distraction and diagnosing autism.

The Athinoula A. Martinos Imaging Center at MIT is a core facility that provides access to state-of-the-art brain imaging technologies for MIT researchers and their collaborators throughout the Boston area

Dr. Pantazis has collaborated with many neuroscience researchers and has over 100 publications in international journals, book chapters, and conference proceedings, with prominent articles in Nature Neuroscience, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, and NeuroImage.

His work has been featured in the Scientific American Mind Magazine, Boston Magazine, the front-page of the MIT website , and several Greek media outlets.
