George Pappas is the fourth Chancellor of Victoria University in Melbourne and had been previously the Chairman of the Committee for Melbourne. George Pappas AO became the fourth Chancellor of Victoria University on 1 January 2010. His term as Chancellor will cease on 31 December 2019.

G. Pappas was born on 11 June 1946 in the Greek island of Rhodes and immigrated to Australia in 1952. Ever since, because of his thirst for knowledge or his business schedule, he travelled around the world. He studied economics at Monash University, where he graduated with first class honours in 1968. Then he studied Economics at Harvard University, where he graduated with a Masters in 1971.

Within a short time, less than a year, he joined the international management consulting firm «The Boston Consulting Group». His proper plan led him quickly at the top, even higher than Boston as he was found to be the head of the firm’s branch in Tokyo.

In 1979, he returned to Australia, where he founded his own consulting group on corporate management. The «Pappas Carter Evans and Koop» has been for over 10 years one of the most successful firms in its field, has cooperated with major companies in the country, and in 1990 it was bargained by BCG and G. Pappas resumed the direction of BCG. He resigned in 2002, still remaining a senior advisor, and ever since he worked for the state government and as a consultant manager of many companies.

George Pappas and the Union Kastellorizo-Victoria has established a scholarship as he feels gratitude to his mother, she was born in the island of Kastellorizo, for her great efforts to ensure a better future for her son. He also chairs the Defence Strategic Reform Advisory Board (DSRAB).
