One of the most popular upcoming singers, who have managed to showcase their talent on YouTube, Maria Zouroudis certainly has the voice needed for success. Her fist cover song has been viewed over 1,200,000 times, while she has already been contacted by US record companies. She was recently featured on a CNN story regarding a cover version of “We are the world” sang by several YouTube artists.

Talking to Mediasoup, Maria Zouroudis reveals she was born in the US- her parents grew up in Greece, a country she loves, even though she is currently too busy to visit it regularly. She insists she has always cherished a special relationship with music, and realized she could turn her passion into a way of life while she was still in college, studying law.

She somehow managed to combine her studies with the pursuit of her interest in music, by collaborating with producers, writing songs and being a choir member. Soon, her fascination with the internet led her to upload her first video on YouTube- and it proved an instant success.

Although initially upset at the thought that their daughter had chosen an unconventional profession, Maria’s parents respected her decision and have always supported her in every way. Today, she feels ready to take the next step by writing and performing her own songs, which will cover several different genres, from jazz to pop with some greek influences, and- she promises- will also be available online.

As for her taste in music, she loves to listen to Donny Hathaway, Mariah Carey, Coldplay, The Beatles, Alicia Keys, Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, BoyzIIMen and Lauryn Hill, and admits she is addicted to greek music- especially the powerful performances of Anna Vissi, Despoina Vandi and Kaiti Garbi.
