The Greeks of the Diaspora are the guardians of Hellenism

In 1977, student Babis Bizas set out to realize his dream of traveling all around the world, carrying nothing more than his backpack. Within five months, he had walked in the streets of Asia, crossing Turkey, Iran,  Afghanistan and Pakistan, he entered India, continued to Nepal and Bangladesh before he went down to Sri Lanka. This was only the beginning. In 2004, he was included in the Guinness book of records as the man, who has travelled to every country in the world.

He has studied political sciences at the Panteion University in Athens, Balkan languages in Thessaloniki, as well as Russian and theatre studies. He describes Greece as a constant point of reference, while he believes that “a journey is the people you meet, not the landscapes you see. Landscapes without people are vast deserts without soul or essence. The more hands you shake, the more smiles you exchange with the locals, the closer you come to the essence of a journey”.
