Vangelis Gazis is Chief Architect IoT Security at Huawei Technologies and is a profound technologist with a proven expertise in developing innovations, all the way from research prospects to product features and market offerings. He has a track record in technology management and leading R&D teams to technology transfer and agile delivery in the Machine-to-Machine, Big Data and the Internet of Things areas.

He is a strong manager and team empowerer by coaching style leadership, has diverse professional experience across academia, industry and regulation and is an expert on cellular mobile networks, security, data networking, system architecture, software engineering and semantics.

He received a Bachelor in Informatics from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, a Masters in Communications Systems and Networks from the same university and an Executive MBA in Business Administration from the Athens University of Economics and received his Ph.D. in Informatics from the University of Athens.

He began working as an IT Specialist in IBM, continued as Teaching Fellow at the University of Piraeus, Adjunct Lecturer at the University of the Aegean and Adjunct Associate Professor at the Technical University of Crete.

He worked for four years as a Senior Researcher at the University of Athens, and in 2011 he was recruited by AGT International, which provides advanced IoT solutions to the manufacturing, safety, agriculture, health, sports and leisure industries. There he worked as a Senior Researcher, then as Research Architect, Program Manager and finally as Lead IoT Scientist.

In 2015, he started at Cognizant as Director Big Data Lead, and a year later, he was introduced to the worldwide team of Huawei. He has ownership and accountability of the baseline security architecture of the Internet of Things (IoT) Products and Solutions (P&S)

Moreover, he has ownership of technology vision, strategy and roadmap of the baseline security architecture for IoT P&S at the CTO scope level. He is also responsible for the security ecosystem (strategy and roadmap).
