Chairman in the largest district energy company in Canada

Dennis Fotinos is the Executive Chairman of Enwave Energy Corporation since June 2016. Enwave is the largest district energy company in Canada. It supplies innovative sustainable energy services to over 160 commercial, residential, and institutional buildings in downtown Toronto and Windsor, Ontario.

He has also been the President and Chief Executive Officer of Enwave Energy Corporation, where he was responsible for the strategic direction and daily oversight of the company’s overall operations, including sales, business development and major construction projects. He initially joined the Enwave management team as Executive Vice President, Business Development in January 2000.

He has a BA in International Relations from the University of Toronto and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management and Schulich School of Business.

As CEO, Mr. Fotinos’ entrepreneurial drive guided Enwave Energy Corporation to profitability during a period of high volatility in the energy market. Under his leadership, Enwave developed the world-renowned Deep Lake Water Cooling project in Toronto, sold all its heating capacity and established its reputation as a leading corporate citizen by supporting the arts, education and important social causes.

The system was built to offer a sustainable, alternative source of air conditioning by using cold water from the depths of Lake Ontario to cool downtown Toronto office buildings.

He served as Local and Regional Councillor representing City of Toronto from 1991 to 1999. Fotinos developed and executed the strategy that privatized the non–profit Toronto District Heating Corporation (“TDHC”).

He served as First Vice Chairman of International District Energy Association (IDEA) and Board of Directors of Canadian District Energy Association.

He is an active member in the Toronto community and has committed his time and energy over the years to a number of professional and charitable organizations ranging from the National Ballet of Canada to the Ontario Lung Association.
Prior to entering politics, he worked as an editor of a community newspaper and as a teacher at Emery Collegiate in North York.
