One of the highest paid players in the NFL

Anthony “Tony” George Pashos is a former professional player in the NFL Championship, the best league of the American football and is considered to be one of the highest paid players in the NFL.

Pashos was born on 3 August 1980 in Palos Heights, Illinois of the United States. Both his parents are from Greece. His father, Giorgos, is from Korydallos, Athens and his mother, Despina, from the Greek island of Crete. He attended Lockport Township High School in Lockport, Illinois and graduated in 1998.

In 1999, he joined Illinois College and started his career in football. In all his 47 games, he had the position of the right tackle and was named First-Team All-Big Ten in 2001 and 2002.

In the 2003 NFL Draft, Pashos was picked by the Baltimore Ravens. He stayed in that team for four seasons.
On 2 March 2007, Pashos signed with Jacksonville Jaguars and started 31 of 32 games for the Jaguars at right tackle. He left the team on 5 September 2009.

His next team was San Francisco 49ers. He signed on 6 September 2009 and a month later in a game against HoustonTexas, he fractured his left scapula placing him on the reserves.

In 2010 he joins the Cleveland Browns with a 14 million dollar contract for three seasons and starts 15 games.
On 2 September 2013, Pashos replaced Alex Barron in the Oakland Raiders and starts all theirs games for the 2013 season.

When asked how he feels about being away from Greece he said: “I miss Greece. Last time I visited was for the funeral of my grandfather. Being a professional athlete is a full time job. In the summers we have training camps so I can’t leave. My parents and brothers are coming though. We all love Greece. I think once I stop playing, I will spend some months there”.
