From Marchesa to her own clothing line

Nafsika Skourti is a Greek-Jordanian clothes designer who fascinates the world with her talent.

Nafsika Skourti first applied to London’s Central Saint Martins to study sculpture, but she ended up reapplying to the university to pursue her passion—fashion design. In 2012, Skourti graduated with a BA degree in Fashion Design with Print.

She previously worked at Marchesa in New York and also trained and developed her skills further in haute couture embroidery at at E’cole Lesage in Paris.

On returning to Jordan, she worked with couturier Fatina Asfour while preparing her graduate collection.

In September 2014, a talent scout and sales agent discovered Skourti and included her in her curated showroom at Paris Fashion Week. Her debut collection, which was an extension and elaboration of her graduate collection, received positive reviews.

Together with her sister, Stephanie Skourti, who worked at Goldman Sachs for four years, Nafsika hopes to build something modern, cool, and fresh.

Nafsika Skourti is a directional brand built upon new ideas and modern clothes.

“I use fashion as a means of self-expression and exploration,” the fashion designer said

With a focus on modern tailoring and sensual silhouettes, she marries masculinity and femininity.

“I design for a woman who is independent and confident. Women who get engaged in conversation, have active, curious energy and have big appetites for culture and visual stimulation. A balance between fashion, humour, and chic. I would love to dress FKA Twigs, but it’s even more exciting dressing the everyday girl – where one of our pieces becomes her uniform, or giving her a jacket that adds interest,” she added.

Her dream plans for the business over the coming few years is to establish a brand with a strong voice, a soul and to keep pushing forward.
