He recently returned from Attalya, Turkey, carrying yet another gold medal, which he won at the 29th Balkan Mathematical Olympics. It was one of the two gold medals won by the greek team, which took part with six students and gathered a total of four medals, including one silver and one bronze.

Panagiotis Lolas has been participating in competitions organized by the mathematical society since he was in the 1st Gymnasium. He first competed on a local level, before moving on to the nationals and finally internationals, where he now faces the world’s best students. His interest in Maths developed when he was at a very young age, encouraged by his chemist father, who taught him to view mathematical exercises as games. When he finishes school, next summer, he wishes to further his studies in maths before focusing on research.
