A young Greek girl, Christina Leventis, organized a charity event with the support of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese and a lot of foreigners. She successfully collected $120.000 which will go to Make a Wish Greece Foundation for needy children in Greece.

“During my summer vacation in Greece, I run into people begging for money in the streets and it made me sad”, Christine mentions to be her source of inspiration in an interview with ellines.com.

The young woman wants to study economics and mathematics. Her parents left Greece to study in the US and after graduating they resided permanently in the suburbs of New York. She wants to follow their lead, though she admits that Greece will always have first place in her heart.

Christina Leventis talks about her memories from Greece with feelings of love and compassion. In her mind, Greek people are easygoing and high-spirited all the time. Although, she points out that during her last visit in Greecem she was shocked by its current misery, a feeling that doesn’t fit the country she used to know.
