The Divergent actor with greek origin

Famous actor Theo James was born with the name Theodoros Taptiklis. He starred in the feature films Divergent and Underworld: Awakening and also appeared in the popular television series Downton Abbey. James was born on December 16th, 1984, in Great Britain.

His father Phillip Taptiklis has origins in the Peloponnese and his mother Jane comes from Scotland. He has 2 brothers and 2 sisters. “I come from a big family, the Greek thing, keeping it real that way”, he has stated in a former interview. He studied philosophy at the University of Nottingham and acting at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.

Except from his role in the feature film Divergent, Theo also starred in the popular films Underworld: Awakening and The Inbetweeners Movie shot in Greece. Moreover, he made an appearance in the television series Downton Abbey in the role of a Turkish diplomat. “Being the youngest of five kids, none of my siblings have anything to do with the industry,” he has later stated in his interview, ”and they are very supportive of me but also not. They find it hilarious, they find it kind of ridiculous, in the best possible way.”

Next year two more films will be screened with Theo James co-starring next to Amber Heard, Billy Bob Thorton, Jim Sturgess, Richard Gere and Dakota Fanning.
