The famous Greek President of the Chicago Bears

Since 1984, businessman Ted Phillips of Greek descent has been a member of Chicago Bears and at the wheel of the club since 1999, making him only the fourth president in team history. Before joining the Bears, he had worked as an auditor and tax accountant for the consulting firm Ernst & Whinney, currently known as Ernst & Young.

Phillips began his career with Chicago Bears in 1983 and climbed his way up as the Teams Controller, the Director of Finance and Vice President of Operations. In 1999, the organization recognized Phillips’s work and genius and named him the Chief Executive Officer and President of his favourite Chicago Bears. He made effective changes to the organization, focusing on detail and establishing stability and consistency in the team.

In 2009, faced with the financial crisis, Phillips decided to freeze ticket prices, yet managed to keep the Chicago Bears in the Top 10 Most Valuable NFL teams and to raise the team’s value to $1.09 billion in 2011, landing it at the top of the lists according to Forbes.
