She won international song contest with a song for the world’s lost generation

Greek-American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Olivia Hadjiioannou, who splits time between Athens and New York, was named winner of the BEAT100 music contest for her music, which showcases Greece’s economic crisis and other tunes in the genres of symphonic progressive rock with multiple instruments.

Other winners in the July 8 chart compilation were UK-based singer and songwriter Niki Tyler, and Dan & Kathy, an Acoustic duo located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The musicians received the most votes from BEAT100 members for their outstanding musical abilities and, in return, have received international recognition and cash prizes.

Hadjiioannou says she was destined to pursue rock music from an early age. “(One day) I received a gift from a family member: a multi-track digital recorder,” she says, “I taught myself about sound engineering and recording and made a home studio. I haven’t stopped recording since that day».
