Poqa Services Ltd is a gourmet food company, founded in 2012, aiming at re-branding the Greek virgin olive oil by focusing on packaging and quality. The company’s first product is the extra virgin olive oil Poqa.

By reading the word po-qa on Linear B plaques, we reach to the conclusion that ancient people used olive oil in everyday life, like the religious ceremonies and trade and crafts (perfumery, tanning, weaving etc.). For the first time, a clear distinction is made among the olive tree, the olive oil and the olive fruit, attributed with a three petal flower. Scribes of the time used, therefore, three different ideograms, one of which is our company’s logo.

Poqa olive oil is an extra virgin olive oil of superior class, very low in acidity 0.22% and mechanically produced from the olive variety Koroneiki according to Systems for Good Cultivation Practices and Environmental Management. The sustainable use of farming methods and equipment and also the implementation of hygiene and traceability systems ensure the production of a selected, extra virgin olive oil of exceptional quality and safety. The harvesting is done from November until mid January. The innovative production method involves the collection and processing of olives on a single day to protect the oil against weather conditions, the systematic recording and monitoring of producers’ farms according to altitude to detect and prevent possible diseases and also the chemical analysis for quality that ensures consistent quality at harvest.

Storage takes place in regionally classified oil reservoires.

The Poqa olive oil stands out for its rich, fruity and typically bitter and spicy flavour, which stimulates the throat with a slight feeling of spicy and is basically common with those of virgin olive oils produced in the beginning of the season, from partly immature olives.

Poqa seasons every dish with the authentic olive flavour mixed with the scents of nature and sophisticated aromas that turn it into an outstanding and precious olive oil.

Poqa olive oil ranks among the best innovative products in the world and has been awarded in the SIAL Paris Exhibition 2012 for excellence in packaging and superior quality. Poqa olive oil was first released in the market in March 2013 and it is currently sold in Galeries Lafayette of Paris and Nice in France, in Harrods in London and it is also available in the markets of Germany and Romania. In Greece, Poqa olive oil is sold in El Marnery Galery and also in selected hotels and restaurants in Paros and Mykonos. Moreover, the popular La Grande Epicerie in Paris and Selfridges in England have shown interest in selling Poqa, while discussions are currently in the final stage.

Poqa is targeted at expensive malls, hotels and restaurants, offering fully customized features. The designed bottle is label-free and laser friendly, allowing tailor made design solutions according to the clients’ requirements. Thanks to this exclusive bottle design Poqa olive oil can be marketed internationally. The innovative and luxurious packaging turns Poqa olive oil into the ideal corporate gift for any special occasion.

VISION/GOALS

The goal of Poqa Services Ltd. is to turn Poqa olive oil into the most recognizable Greek olive oil in the world targeting at consumers of high purchasing power.

– The name Poqa means edible and it is located on Linear B plaques as the ideogram of olive tree in our logo. On the plaque Un 138 found in the palace of Pylos, the word fovri/fovras is written next to the ideogram of the olive, meaning edible olives, intended for food.
